Yellow Hawaiian
At Puna Organics, Biker Dude’s first love is Japanese yellow ginger. Once Japanese yellow ginger is grown on Hawaiian soil it becomes Hawaiian Yellow Ginger,
hence the name,
Biker Dude Hawaiian Organic Yellow Ginger.
Organic Yellow Ginger. Yellow Ginger is a rare cultivar that comprises less than 1/10 of a percent of all the ginger sold in the world. There are only a few yellow ginger farmers in the world who grow for export and lucky you....they are all organic growers!
Yellow ginger is known for its superior pungency and sensational depth of flavor. You will notice the difference in color and texture when you slice our yellow ginger. It is a vibrant yellow from top to bottom. Yellow ginger is more dense and less fibrous then the white ginger you will normally find at your grocer. You will have to go to a natural food store to find Hawaiian Organic Yellow Ginger.
Yo Biker Dude, why dosn’t every one grow yellow ginger if it is so special?
Because Yellow ginger requires a whole lot more labor to grow and prepare for market then does the much larger and heavy yielding white ginger. Not only are the the total yields for yellow less, but the hands themselves are lighter and more compact. So the yellow yields produced require much more handwork for harvesting, trimming and packing. An acre of land cost the same to rent, an acre of yellow requires the same amount of fertilizer but an acre of yellow yields only 60% as much as white and requires at least four times the labor. One does not have to be the sharpest tool in the shed to see where the most money per acre is….and it is not yellow!
Yo Dude, if this ain’t where the money is then why bother???
Because I am on a mission from God…
hence the name,
