Yellow Hawaiian Ginger
Called Japanese yellow in Hawaii although its origins are unclear.
Young product has a lovely contrast between the bright pink scales and the rich yellow flesh. Mature product is much hotter than standard big gingers one would find in a supermarket. It stands to reason that young product would also be hotter than say young Big Kahuna. Produces more smaller-sized hands than larger types. Seed size is also smaller so it plants a little more row feet per pound compared to larger types.
Yellow Hawaiian is less fussy in its growth, making it more suitable for marginal conditions than the larger types. Mature product demands higher market price.
This is our recommendation for reliability as it seems to handle hot and dry conditions well.
