Yellow Hawaiian
Hey, Biker Dude, what’s is this Yellow Hawaiian Organic Ginger?
At Puna Organics, Biker Dude primarily grows Japanese Yellow Ginger. Once Japanese Yellow Ginger is grown on Hawaiian soil it becomes Hawaiian Yellow Ginger, hence the name, Biker Dude Yellow Hawaiian Organic Ginger. Hawaiian Yellow Ginger is a rare cultivar that comprises less than 1/10 of a percent of all the ginger sold in the world. There are only a few yellow ginger farmers in the world who grow for export and, good for you, they are all organic growers!
Yellow Hawaiian Organic Ginger is known for its superior pungency and depth of flavor. You will notice the difference in color when you slice open our Yellow Ginger. It is a vibrant yellow and is more dense and less fibrous then the common white ginger you will normally find at your grocer. You will have to go to a natural food store to find Organic Yellow Ginger.
What about White Ginger?
The other 99.99% of ginger grown worldwide is the common variety Chinese White Ginger. Slicing open the rhizome reveals a creamy white interior. White Ginger is more “woody” or fibrous, less dense, and more watery then yellow ginger. White ginger produces a higher yield then yellow ginger so it is the preference of most farmers. Chinese White Ginger adopts the name of its place of origin; Hawaiian Ginger, Brazilian Ginger, etc. But no matter how you “slice it” it is still common White Chinese Ginger.
OK, so, Yellow Hawaiian Organic Ginger is different, so what?
